The Fort Fairfield Chamber of Commerce hosted a successful annual dinner at the local VFW Hall. Over 100 citizens attended the event that featured a social hour, dinner, and its annual awards ceremonies.
Following dinner the keynote speaker, Mr. Peter Thompson, Kennebec Valley Chamber of Commerce President and CEO, encouraged the local Chamber to work with the local municipal government as well as surrounding communities and organizations to create an atmosphere that supports job growth and retention both in the community and the region. Mr. Thompson stressed that a collaborative effort is key to economic development in the current business environment.
The evening was highlighted by the presentation of the Chamber’s annual Citizen of Year, and Business of the Year awards. This year also featured a special Lifetime Achievement award. The Citizen of the Year award went to Mr. Keith Thibeau, while the Business of the Year went to R & J Market.
Those in attendance rose to their feet as Mr. Tony Levesque was announced as the Lifetime Achievement Award recipient. While Tony’s lifelong dedication to the Town of Fort Fairfield was lauded, many spoke of his lifelong friendships and willingness to “give” to family, friends, and the community. Thanks much Tony, for all you are and do.
Additionally, the Chamber unveiled its new Mission Statement. While succinct in nature the statement provides clear definition and direction in its goal to support the Town of Fort Fairfield's Passion for Community vision. See the new statement below.
